Artist Statement

My work explores how color, form, depth, and movement shape the way we experience space and how we feel within it. I create dimensional wood reliefs built from flowing paths, layered geometry, unexpected intersections, and bold color fields. Although abstract, I approach each composition as an environment to explore, allowing the eye to travel through, around, and between forms.

My visual language draws from mid-century modern design and retro-futurism, borrowing their optimism, experimentation, and belief that design can make daily life more engaging. I am also influenced by Ingrid Fetell Lee’s work on the aesthetics of joy and its exploration of how color, abundance, movement, and play can evoke an immediate sense of delight. Dimension is essential to that experience. Forms rise, overlap, disappear beneath one another, and reemerge, creating compositions that shift with perspective and changing light. Color further defines these spatial relationships, sometimes creating harmony and at other times introducing contrast, surprise, or visual tension.

Ultimately, I want my work to offer an experience before it asks for interpretation. I am drawn to that immediate moment when something visually unexpected captures our attention, invites curiosity, and creates a sense of discovery. Rather than prescribing what a viewer should see or feel, the work creates a space for movement, imagination, and joy.
